10 Commandments of happy roommates

Resident Advisors and students both agree – living with a roommate is a delicate situation. Sharing a small room with a stranger or even a friend from high school can prove tricky if the two of you aren’t on the same page. Following these ten simple rules, straight from the mouths of people who have [...]

Discovery classes provide fun learning for freshmen

There is nothing worse than starting your college career with bad classes. I am talking about being the last among the student body to register for classes. You usually end up in a large lecture class with absolutely no relations to your major. These classes usually never interest you, but you have been told take [...]

Buy your football tickets sooner rather than later

When you get to campus for registration, or while your at home and online, consider buying your tickets to see the Fighting Illini football team this fall. There are a few different options for student football tickets, and in my years at Illinois, I’ve tried them all. It’s up to you which tickets you buy, [...]

Curious about campus? We've got you covered

If you're looking information about news, sports, entertainment and everything else Illini, The Daily Illini is your campus source. We've been around the University of Illinois since 1871 and are completely independent from the school, meaning we can tell you what Illinois is really like, no strings attached. The Daily Illini is a part of Illini Media, a campus media company that also houses 107.1-FM WPGU, Buzz - a weekly entertainment publication, the Illio yearbook and the website the217.com. As a completely student run organization we write the stories, take the photos, check the facts and make sure we're getting you the best information when and how you need it. We've been on campus for a few years, working going to class, exploring Champaign-Urbana and cheering on the Illini. You can trust us to bring you the most accurate, useful and entertaining information all year long.

The Daily Illini is more than just a newspaper. Here's all the ways you can get your DI:

  • You'll find The Daily Illini in many University buildings and distributed around campus Monday through Friday when you get here in the fall.
  • We keep our website DailyIllini.com up to date 24/7 when school is in session and even on breaks. The site is full of videos, audio slideshows, live chats of Illini sporting events, polls and other ways for students to interact with us and with each other.
  • Like our facebook page at www.facebook.com/DailyIllini for photos, events and news around campus.
  • Follow us on twitter @TheDailyIllini and @di_sports for quick updates, links to great stories and other updates.
  • Download our IlliniMobile app to your iPhone or iPod, where you can access not only The Daily Illini, but live music streamed from WPGU, photos from our publications and more.
If you're interested in joining us, we'd love to have your talents, teach you new skills and have you be a part of a great Illini tradition of news, fun and media at the University of Illinois.

Look for our booth at Quad Day and come to one of our Info Nights either Aug. 26 or Sept. 1 at the Illini Media Building. We're located at 512 E. Green St. in Champaign, across from Coldstone. You'll recognize us with the radio station and Illini Apple Center on the first floor. Can't wait to meet you all.
